Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis has proven himself to be the strong fundraiser as he’s topped the $5 million mark in contributions to his campaign and political committee. Patronis took in more than $577,000 in August, putting him at $5.16 million in total donations. Of the August fundraising, Patronis’ campaign raised $228,802 while his political committee Treasure Florida raised $349,050. His largest contributions came from: Miami law firm Genovese, Joblove & Battista, which contributed $50,000 and the Florida Medical Association’s donation of $25,000.
Patronis is far outpacing his Democratic opponent former State Senator Jeremy Ring. The former Yahoo executive hasn’t reported his August fundraising efforts yet but as of last week had raised just under $1.08 million in his campaign and political accounts and added another $192,000 in loans.
Patronis is the most prolific fundraiser this election cycle among the candidates running for a Florida Cabinet position – Attorney General, CFO and Agriculture Commissioner.
He was appointed CFO by Governor Rick Scott following the resignation of Jeff Atwater, who took a position at Florida Atlantic University. Patronis was formerly a state Public Service Commissioner and served in the Florida House of Representatives for four terms.
He’s won the support of law enforcement groups and earlier this week was endorsed by Senator Marco Rubio.
The Panama City native goes head-to-head with Ring in the November general election.
