Ashley Moody, the Republican nominee for Attorney General, takes a direct shot are her Democrat opponent Sean Shaw. In a new TV ad, Moody calls Shaw a politician who’s never prosecuted a case as an attorney.
Moody says her experience as a former federal prosecutor and state circuit judge has prepared her to handle cases as Florida Attorney General. Speaking into the camera, Moody says “Drug violence. The opioid epidemic. Human trafficking. Florida’s Attorney General handles thousands of cases. The job needs a prosecutor, not a politician.”
Moody is correct when she says Democrat Sean Shaw has never prosecuted a case. Shaw is a trial attorney and previously served as Florida’s insurance consumer advocate.
The Moody campaign says the new commercial will be backed by a “significant buy.”
Moody is the favored choice of law enforcement in this race. Besides being endorsed by nearly 90% of all Florida Sheriffs, Moody has won the support of Florida Police Chief’s Association and the Florida Police Benevolent Association.
Moody was also recently endorsed by the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “Ashley Moody is a brilliant legal mind and is compassionate for all Floridians. She has the toughness and integrity to be Florida’s next Attorney General,” said Bob Grammig, Chair, Florida Chamber of Commerce, and Partner, Holland and Knight.
