Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis has won the backing of the organization representing the state’s police chiefs. The Florida Police Chiefs Association represents more than 900 of the state’s top law enforcement executives.

“Jimmy Patronis is the CFO we need to protect Floridians from fraudulent criminal acts,” said Amy Mercer, executive director of the Florida Police Chiefs Association. “Throughout his years serving our state, Jimmy Patronis has shown he’s ready to assist Florida police chiefs and answer calls for help. He understands the importance of the CFO’s relationship with local law enforcement and will ensure we are doing everything possible to protect our citizens from scams, identity theft, and other fraudulent acts.”

As CFO Patronis serves as the state Fire Marshall and as a member of the Cabinet oversees the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

“It is truly an honor that the Florida Police Chiefs Association has endorsed my campaign to continue as our state’s Chief Financial Officer,” said CFO Patronis. “As a committed supporter of law enforcement, I am proud to have the backing of Florida’s police chiefs. I will do all I can to ensure our brave men and women have the support they deserve while steadfastly protecting our communities each and every day.”

CFO Patronis was previously endorsed by the Florida Fraternal Order of Police.

Patronis, a Republican from Panama City, was appointed Florida’s CFO to fill the term of Jeff Atwater who resigned from the office. Patronis is running for a four-year term. He previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and as a member of the Florida Public Service Commission.

He’ll face former Democrat Jeremy Ring, a former state senator, in the November general election.
