Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis and Lt. Gov.-elect Jeanette Nuñez will kick-off a “thank you” tour Saturday to three areas of the state that contributed to their November election victory. The Republicans, who will be sworn in on Jan. 8, will hold rallies in Pasco, Sumter and Volusia counties on Saturday.

The weekend gatherings will be the first in a series of upcoming events, according to a release issued Thursday by the DeSantis inaugural committee.

“This historic win would not have been possible without the support of thousands of volunteers who believed in our vision for the state,” DeSantis, who succeeds outgoing Republican Gov. Rick Scott, said in the release.

Attorney General-elect Ashley Moody, a Tampa Republican, will participate in events at Spartan Manor in New Port Richey at 8:30 a.m. and La Hacienda Recreation Center in Lady Lake at noon, according to the announcement.

A third rally is set for 3 p.m. at the Riverside Pavilion in Port Orange.

DeSantis, a former congressman who narrowly defeated Democratic challenger Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum by 0.4 percentage points out of 8.2 million votes cast statewide last month, captured Pasco County by 17 percentage points, Sumter by 40 percentage points and Volusia by just over 10 percentage points.
