Huckabee: Rick Scott is right to challenge rampant recount bias

Mike Huckabee

Governor Rick Scott is following President Trump’s lead by taking a resolute stand against the biased, liberal cabal trying to steal the U.S. Senate election in Florida.

Rather than sitting back and watching liberal activists snatch his hard-won victory away right under his nose, Scott is aggressively challenging the rampant bias present at almost every level of the Florida election recount process.

In so doing, he’s showing the rest of the GOP that when Republicans fight back against liberal malfeasance, they win.

Take for instance Brenda Snipes, the Broward County Supervisor of Elections who has repeatedly run afoul of election laws since taking office in 2003 yet still oversees vote-counting in the crucial Democrat stronghold.

In 2004, her office forgot to send 58,000 absentee ballots to voters who requested them, and earlier this year a judge ruled that she violated federal law by prematurely destroying ballots cast in a 2016 primary election involving Democrat Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. Snipes is also the subject of a lawsuit filed in August by the American Civil Rights Union that questions her handling of potentially ineligible voters.

Meanwhile, two judges have had to recuse themselves from election-related lawsuits due to conflicts of interest. According to CNN, the original judge “had to recuse himself because he was hearing another case involving the Scott administration,” while a second judge “could not be assigned to any of the cases because his son is a county election supervisor.”

The only judge left to hear the seven lawsuits is an Obama appointee who overruled Scott in a 2016 election ruling.

The vote difference in the Senate race is likely too great for incumbent Ben Nelson to catch up to Rick Scott in the recount, but the GOP can’t afford to take chances, and when it comes to getting a fair shot, Scott’s back is against the wall.

Instead of simply wringing his hands the way Republicans have so often done in the past, Scott is taking a page out of President Trump’s playbook, using the mainstream media to call out “rampant voter fraud” and assure voters that he won’t let Democrats “steal” the election.

His team has filed numerous lawsuits to block the Democrats’ attempt to overturn the election, and Scott made a point of showing up to Capitol Hill for freshman orientation in order to let Senate Democrats know that he’s not backing down and is there to stay.

Scott is emulating President Trump and his fighting spirit because he recognizes that standing up to liberal lawlessness is no longer an option — it’s a requirement in the new Republican Party.

“The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged. An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!” President Trump recently tweeted.

Always a cautious and methodical politician, Rick Scott’s outspoken refusal to tolerate irregularities in the vote count exemplifies the pugnacious new attitude President Trump has brought to the GOP.

The Republican Party is changing, and Democrats are panicking because of it. The liberal partisans who control the ballot count in Florida have been accustomed to Republicans meekly accepting their post-election shenanigans, but Rick Scott and President Trump are finally fighting back against this injustice, and will fully secure the win in the process.
