A new commercial, on the air starting this week, hits U.S. Senator Bill Nelson for his 45 year political career. Paid for by The New Republican PAC, closely associated with Governor Rick Scott, the ad also touts Nelson’s cuts on Social Security and votes to raise taxes.
New Republican PAC will spend $3.5 million on cable TV and digital ads in the coming weeks.
The commercials continue an aggressive strategy for Governor Scott and it appears to be working. Two new polls have Scott leading Democrat Nelson. A Florida Chamber of Commerce poll has Scott over Nelson by 5 points, while a Politico/AARP poll has Scott’s lead at 1. That lead swells to 9 points among Floridians 50 and older, the most likely to vote on election day.
