Blaming Democrats for obstructing the work of the U.S. Senate, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell canceled a scheduled August recess and ordered the Senate to work during the month. Florida Democrat Senator Bill Nelson quickly complained about having to work in August when he’d rather be back in the state running for re-election.
Nelson called the move “raw politics” while Governor Rick Scott, who’s challenging Nelson said via Twitter the Senate should work during August, like every other Floridian.
It’s promising to see the Senate cancel its month long vacation and try and get some work done. Working Floridians don’t get to take the month of August off, and neither should career politicians. #MakeWashingtonWork
